Viewer metrics
Your average live viewer count at any moment.
Ad setup
More ad minutes means more revenue potential, but also more risk of viewers leaving.
Pre-rolls play when someone first clicks your stream. Turning them off helps retention, but Twitch usually requires more mid-roll ads per hour.
Revenue modeling
Earnings per 1,000 ad views, after Twitch's share.
The share of ad requests that actually get served a real ad. Set from your region below — change it if you know your own.
Ad blockers stop ads showing, which cuts your paid impressions.
Region and adjustments
Sets a typical fill rate for that market. You can override it above.
Q4 usually carries higher CPMs; Q1 is typically the weakest.

Fill rate, and why your ad revenue is lower than you expect
Fill rate is the percentage of ad requests that actually get served with a real ad. If Twitch tries to show 100 ads but advertisers only supply 70, your fill rate is 70%.
This is the biggest reason your Twitch ad revenue might be lower than calculators predict. Even if you run ad breaks properly, not every viewer will get an ad, because advertiser demand might be low, there may not be enough ads for your region, your category may have poor advertiser targeting, Twitch can't match an ad to your viewer's profile, the user is in a low-value geo, inventory is limited at that moment, or some ads can't be shown to minors.
Worked example
100 viewers, 3 ads per hour, 50 hours streamed, fill rate 60%.
Naive impressions: 100 × 3 × 50 = 15,000
With fill rate: 15,000 × 0.6 = 9,000
Your earnings drop 40% instantly, just from fill rate.
Fill rates run higher in the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany and Scandinavia, and lower across Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia outside Japan and South Korea, the Middle East and Africa. That is why two streamers with the same viewers and the same ad settings can earn wildly different amounts.
How our Twitch ad revenue calculator works
-
Realistic impressions
We use CCV, hours streamed, ad density, fill rate and adblock impact to estimate real impressions - not inflated numbers.
-
RPM based on live market conditions
Choose preset RPM values or set your own. Twitch RPM varies by region, season, ad length and inventory.
-
Smart projections
See earnings daily, weekly, monthly and yearly for both mid-roll and pre-roll strategies.
-
Easy export and embeddable widget
Once you're happy with your setup, you can export your results or embed a simplified version of the calculator on your own site. Creators, coaches and agencies can plug the same revenue logic into their dashboards or landing pages without rebuilding the math from scratch.
Optimize your Twitch ad strategy
- Set ad minutes to 3 per hour. Anything less and pre-rolls aren't fully disabled - new viewers will get slapped with an ad the second they click, and most will bounce.
- Let Twitch run 90-second mid-rolls every ~30 minutes. Use those breaks on your terms: bathroom, grabbing water, stretching - so viewers don't feel like they're missing gameplay when ads roll.
- Avoid ads or starting soon screens right at the beginning. When people click that 'X just went live' pop-up, they need to see you live instantly, not a wall of ads or a 5-minute 'starting soon' screen.
- Use snooze and notifications to control timing. Keep the 'ad starting soon' alerts on, so you can snooze an ad if you're mid-fight or in a hype moment and push it to a natural lull instead.
- Remember: as a small streamer, ads are about damage control, not profit. Until you're pulling big numbers, your main goal is to minimize how many ads viewers see, keep them in stream, and let subs/Prime/Turbo handle most of the ad-free experience.
Why most Twitch ad calculators show fake numbers
- They assume 0% adblock
- They assume 100% fill rate
- They ignore viewer drop-off
- They assume CPM = creator payout (false)
- They don't factor pre-roll disable requirements
This calculator fixes all of that by modeling real ad delivery mechanics and giving you adjustable inputs for every major variable.
Twitch ad revenue FAQ
Why did my Twitch ad revenue suddenly drop from something like $200 to $10?
Twitch ad revenue swings hard because it's tied to overall ad budgets and demand. Q4 (Oct-Dec) usually has much higher CPMs, while Q1 (Jan-Mar) is notorious for crashing earnings as advertisers reset budgets. On top of that, changes in your category, region, viewer geo, ad settings, or Twitch's own deals can all lower RPM even if your views and hours stayed the same.
I average 30-100 viewers. Why am I making so little from ads?
For most small and mid-sized streamers, ads pay way less than people expect. Revenue depends on more than CCV: you also need high ad density, good fill rate, viewers in high-paying regions, and decent RPM. If you're running just a few minutes of ads per hour, it's totally normal to see only a few dollars to a few tens of dollars per month, even at 30-100 CCV.
Does streaming more hours automatically fix low ad revenue?
Not really. Streaming 150-300 hours a month with low ad rates can still add up to only tens or low hundreds of dollars. More hours do increase potential impressions, but if RPM is low (bad season, low-CPM region, light ad schedule), you're mostly trading time and energy for pennies. The calculator helps you see whether extra hours are actually worth it.
Should I rely on Twitch ad revenue to pay bills?
For 99% of streamers, no. Ad revenue behaves like a volatile stock chart: big seasonal swings, sudden drops, and changes you don't control. Most creators treat ads as bonus money and rely more on subs, direct support, sponsors, or other platforms. Use the calculator as a planning tool, not as a guarantee of stable income.
Do region, category, and tags affect ad revenue?
Yes. Viewers in lower-CPM regions (like parts of Eastern Europe, LATAM, etc.), categories with less advertiser interest, or tags that some brands avoid can all drag down your RPM. That's why two channels with similar CCV and ad settings can earn very different amounts, and why your RPM might change even if your content doesn't.
What should I do if my ad revenue tanks?
Three big moves:
- Check seasonality - compare Q4 vs Q1, not December vs January in isolation
- Diversify income - subs, donos, Patreon, YouTube VODs, sponsors, merch
- Use data, not vibes - plug your real CCV, ad minutes and RPM into the calculator to see if ads are even worth pushing harder for your size
How accurate is this Twitch ad calculator?
It's an estimate based on industry-realistic RPMs, fill rates and viewer behavior. Actual earnings vary by category, location and season.
How does this differ from other calculators?
We factor in adblock, fill rate, viewer drop-off and RPM variations - things most calculators online ignore.
Do I need to be an Affiliate or Partner?
Yes. Only Affiliates and Partners earn revenue from ads. If you're not monetized yet, you cannot earn from ads on Twitch. Our Twitch Affiliate calculator shows how close you are.
Should I disable pre-rolls?
If you stream longer sessions, yes. Pre-rolls can hurt new viewer retention.
How does this calculator generate the estimates?
It uses your CCV, ad frequency, RPM, hours streamed and viewer behavior to calculate realistic impressions and revenue based on Twitch ad-delivery patterns.
